Currently contemplating if I have succumbed to insanity.

The economic downturn couldn't be more inspiring in the depression department, and opportunities to excel in the field of comics get slimmer by the millisecond.

Probably safer to abandon ship....become doctor or teacher or plumber. but such surgery is too drastic to perform on myself.

I believe I can entertain and teach the world in a morally-significant way through storytelling. Comic tales now not like the ones I grew up with--message too ambiguous. Writers no longer have the guts to paint their beliefs as a broad, vivid stroke.

Before I knew Christ, the heroes in comics helped me figure out right from wrong. Villains operate out of selfish means--while heroes operate out of the greater good...something BIGGER than themselves.

I still want to believe that the comic industry has a place for such tales. I still want to believe there is a place for writer/artist that enjoys illuminating righteousness through the whimsical and romantic landscape called mythology.

Industry saturated with gorgeous, technically sound works of art, but no story behind them to give weight. Depth. MEANING.

We are starting to take our professions too seriously...becoming smug in our entertainment glamour.

Where's the substance? Where's the truth?

Where's the heart of this medium going?

The movies and video games have the stories pegged better than the comics now--is it a wonder why opportunities are disappearing?

I will continue my fight. I will continue to write and draw stories that emphasize more than wanton desire or anarchy. I will continue to entertain in a morally-significant way.

who knows....maybe I have succumbed to INSANITY after all.
